Oh No! Trains Again!

yes I am afraid so,
first I had to buy one of these multi testers,
set to the symbol above and test the continuity off the track, you can set for visual or move the indicator one notch up and get a audio buzz,
then start to install the control system, this I have done temporally, before spending any more time on the next stage I wanted to make sure all was well so far,
the short piece of track on the right is wired into the system, each train has it's own micro chip, so you program train 0001, train 0002 and so on, you place each engine on the short piece of track to give it it's address, then when it is on the main track you send a message down the track to each train, but only the one you "talk" to responds,

a close up of the transformer, base unit and walk around controller, there are many types of DCC units when I bought these I went for the Gaugemaster brand,

and the first train to do a hesitant circuit on both tracks, a 0-6-0 Jinty, I had only so far connected one feed to each line after, a distance you get a voltage "drop off" so extra power points have to be put in, these I have already done but have not wired them as this was a temporary try out, so the day was spent cleaning the glue, which seems to be everywhere from the tracks,
then home made fish and chips for supper, feet up and watch a movie, this time Stephen King's The Langoliers, a bit off track in places and a bit long, I believe it was originally shown as three 1 hour episodes, I stopped looking at the time counter on the player after a couple of hours, but it had it's moments, then the last of the first series of The Tudors, Cardinal Wolsey is unseated and Sir Thomas More takes his place, Cardinal Wolsey then befriends Queen Katherine - with tragic results, then on to the second series, by now Henry will do anything to rid himself of Katherine, unaware of the feelings of resentment to his Mistress Anne, he takes her to France, where a sinister plot to assassinate her takes shape, and so to bed.
