Saturday Again!

the weeks just rush past, Diana decided we should have a fry up for breakfast, so sausage, eggs, bacon and loads of baked beans, I could not help thinking of the bean sketch in Blazing Saddles that we watched yesterday! off to Friendship accompanied by the rumble of distant thunder, the sky in the back ground looks bright, but in reality it was dark and threatening rain,
then along to the market to pick up some prawns and vegetables, I took this picture of the 7-11 there, for me it is always strange that shops allow people to put their goods in front of the shop window with just enough space for customers to walk to the shop, I often wonder if the shop gets a rent from the traders or is it because the shop does not own the property in front of the shop? it certainly prevents potential customers from window shopping!
the street here was for a change very quiet, normally we have to park in a side street, but this time we parked outside the gold shop which was shut, I looked up the street, all of the gold shops were shut, how strange, any one know why? just out of interest the price of gold out here is about 18,000 baht a baht, (a baht is 15.16 grams, normally referred to as 15.2) to convert grams to ounces simply multiply your grams by 0.0353 or multiply your ounces by 28.35 to convert ounces to grams, so here is the question as you have the weekend to figure it out, how much would it cost to buy an ounce of gold from one of the local gold shops in UK pounds or US dollars? this is what you need to know,
the exchange rate this morning was 46 baht to the UK pound, the price of gold at 1:30 P.M. EST, stood at $1,227.8, notice how I have given you non related correlation, thai currency baht, Thai gold weight in grams, UK pound exchange rate, dollar price of gold in ounces, I tried working it out but gave up, too much of a hangover!
Diana arrives back with the goodies, Mr. Tony was his usual bright self, Peter was also here,
Mark back from Cambodia,
everybody brought so much food and drink along, Diana decided to make some bacon wrapped prawns rather than a full meal, also she was cooking by herself as none of the ladies called in this week, so she was very busy today,
prawns in bacon, salad and a cold curry dish from Mr. Tony,
Big Jim was also here,
it was all so delicious, we also had a roasted chicken,
Phil had just returned from a trip to India, so he now has more time to spend on his bikes, I asked him which of his four Harley's was his favorite to drive, the answer, the new one for comfort the Von Harley for speed and handling,
we talked of wind farms, solar panels and nuclear power, which Mr. Tony did not find so interesting,
I should have said we had a huge bag of mangostens which have just come into season out here, one thing I did not know was that mangostens contain xanthones, theses are found in a limited number of rain forest plants, but nowhere are they found in greater abundance than in the rind of the mangosteen fruit, now on to the best joke of the evening, two guys are holding their heads after waking up from the previous nights drinking session,
'whats good for a hangover?' one asked,
'two bottles of vodka normally does it for me' the other replied, boom-boom! then it was time for bed.
