It Went For A Bit More Than Was Thought,

it being a a rare 1928 Mercedes-Benz 26/120/180  'S' Type Sports Tourer,

sporting a 6.8-liter engine which was set in a low-slung chassis frame and adorned with the now iconic Mercedes 'V' radiator grille, capable of more than 100mph, the 'S' was first seen at the Nürburgring in 1927, I first mentioned it back in June as it was coming up for auction, the guide price then was £1.5 million, but the unrestored classic that had been in the same family since the 1920s, went to a mystery buyer for a staggering £2,801,500, so there still is a bit of money out there! I wonder if the family will buy a new one now?
