We Were Off On A Wet Sunday For Lunch,

it started as a gentle shower,

but before long the plastic mac was out, luckily I had one under the seat, for today it was the turn of Robin's Nest in Soi Diana for our Sunday lunch,

the place is under new British management, the whole place has been completely renovated, glass is now at the front of the building so the inside is now air conditioned,

the format has remained the same, for a very reasonable price of 249 it is a help yourself buffet of soup, carvery and dessert,

there are plenty of dishes to chose from, including Yorkshire pudding and stuffing,

when we arrived I ordered my one glass of medicinal wine, only one as I was driving, but unfortunately they had run out, well about a half a glass was left, but straight away one of the staff was on a motorbike and they were off, I have to say it into the pouring rain, it was by now chucking it down, by the time we arrived back at the table with our main course my glass had been topped up, the owner even saying it was on the house, what a nice gesture,

Diana keeping to her diet with a diet coke to accompany her meal, today was a non-diet day for me, back on it tomorrow!

I took a quick picture of the street in the rain, but I have to admit I found the sign on the steps to Robin's Nest very amusing,

I have made it a bit clearer in case it was difficult to read,
after a very filling and great value Sunday lunch we were off, luckily for us the rain had stopped so I did not need the plastic mac,

we took a short cut through what is the normally crowded Soi Bukaow market,

there are always one or two stalls open on a Sunday,

the area is huge, I would have thought by now that all of this land would have bee built on, but I guess the owner is happy enough with the rents they receive,

there is a new complex on the corner of Third Road and Pattaya Tai, a shopping mall, there is parking at the back of it, many of the units appear to have been taken, but are closed on Sundays,

we were so lucky, just as we arrived home the heavens opened up again, the rain continued all afternoon into the night, so there was no chance to pot up the remaining plants we had bought yesterday,

so our usual Sunday afternoon started, feet up and put a film on, Brazil was next on our list, we had watched it before, this is what I wrote then, 'Sam Lowry is a harried technocrat in a futuristic society that is needlessly convoluted and inefficient, while trying to rectify the wrongful arrest of one Harry Buttle, Lowry meets the woman he is always chasing in his dreams, Jill Layton, meanwhile, the bureaucracy has fingered him responsible for a rash of terrorist bombings, and both Sam and Jill's lives are put in danger, how to describe Brazil? a sort of 1984 but made with Monty Python steroids and a lot more humour thrown in! a great way to spend the afternoon,

then a new one for us Firefly, based upon the travels of a space ship some 500 years in the future and the crew of it, it starts out quiet lamely, the opening battle sequence so poor I was almost tempted to turn it off in the first few minuets, but once underway it became compellingly good, the special effects in space were excellent, so much so we watched all of the first disc, more than a few hours worth, so we will be watching disc two some time soon,

to round our evening off Waking the Dead, Conviction, six years after the murdered corpse of an unknown young man was discovered in a reservoir Eve identifies him as medical student Karl Barclay, Sarah finds out that Karl's name was on a watch list of suspected terrorists, but why was he being watched and by whom? as usual this was almost a game of spot the deliberate mistake, usually not wearing gloves then handling a item that has to be tested for DNA and fingerprints being the usual mistake, but the program surpassed itself this time, a picture puts all of the people in it in the frame, beginning extensive searches for them, but the whole team forget to find out who took the photograph! with that it was late so we were off to bed.
