Rain Cancels Battle,

at Battle,

Health & Safety fears meant that the reenactment at Battle in Hastings had to be cancelled due to rain and the ground being a bit wet, but back to Saturday 14th of October 1066, two army's faced each other across a field, King Harold of England facing Duke William of Normandy, as usual the English were winning the battle so the Normans changed their strategy and fire arrows upward into the air aiming at the faces rather than the bodies of the English,

King Harold is shot in the eye, the English are still winning the Battle of Hastings but foolishly believe the Normans are retreating, they chase the Normans giving up their superior higher battle position and consequently lose the Battle of Hastings, the reason why the Battle of Hastings was famous and important to the history of England was that it resulted in all lands of England being claimed by the Normans who introduce Feudalism to England,

if only Health & Safety were around in 1066, you can just imagine one of them shouting, 'don't look up, one of those arrows will have your eye out!'
