The Village Of Johnsonville,

the town that nobody wants,

with Halloween just around the corner I should say Ghost Town!, Johnsonville is a village in East Haddam, Connecticut, it used to be a small milltown until the 1970s, the main employer was the Neptune Twineand Cord Mill, once the heart of the community, however, a fire shut it down in 1972 and instead of reopening it, the owner changed direction, he announced his intention to turn it into a tourist attraction,

the owner, Raymond Schmitt moved quaint, turn-of-the-century buildings from elsewhere in New England to Johnsonville,

He envisioned the town as a tourist town, but alas it was never a financial success and, in 1994, after a dispute with the local government, Schmitt closed it, He died 4 years later, now the current owners are selling off Johnsonville,

it has 62 acres of land and a 15-acre pond, there are a dozen buildings and a private waterfall, last year Johnsonville appeared on the market for $2.9 million, it was never sold, but the present owners have put it back on the market, the property consists of 8 Contiguous Parcels With Numerous Buildings Located On 62 Acres In The Village of Johnsonville in Moodus, CT, the price? well the opening bid is $800,000 with a bid deposit amount of $10,000, but you had better be quick as I write this the auction opens in 1 day and 14 hours time, it looks so nice I almost would like to buy it myself!
