Viewed From Afar,

our earth looks totally different,
in December of 2013, an Instagram account called DailyOverview began to catalogue a wide spectrum of satellite images like the one above, the Gemasolar Thermosolar Plant in Seville, Spain,

pictured the tulip fields in Lisse, Netherlands, the account is run by Benjamin Grant who uses imagery taken from DigitalGlobe, an advanced collection of Earth imaging satellites that provide data to services like Google Earth

evaporation ponds at the potash mine in Moab, Utah, USA, the project gets its title from a phenomenon experienced by astronauts who spend extended periods of time in space and what they describe as a “cognitive shift in awareness” as they continuously view the world from above dubbed the overview effect,

and this is my favourite, Ipanema Beach is located in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,

and like so many I just love the song The Girl from Ipanema by Stan Getz, above the original version, 1962,

and this the later version with Astrud Gilberto & Stan Getz made in 1964, all of the pictures are in the book, Overview, it is a large-format, 288 page hardcover book with a stunning collection of images, and no I am not on commission I just think the pictures are stunning.
