Day 30,

when we woke,

Paris was blanketed in a layer of snow,

so we just had to go out,

and take a few pictures,

especially,

as it was our last day,

Paris in winter,

there were very few people about,

but naturally one just had to stand in front of me when I wanted no one in the picture,

then it was my turn to get in the way

luckily the snow did not settle on the roads,

but it did settle,

on André-Louis Gody (1828-1896) who became famous when he was chosen as model for the statue, a veteran of the Napoleonic wars, he was born in Gravelines in Northern France, as I have mentioned before the Zouave statue traditionally serves as an unofficial standard in order to indicate the rise in the water level of the Seine, the Zouaves Regiment participated to the Battle of the Alma, 20/09/1854 during the Crimean War,

the trees on the opposite bank covered with snow,

the mausoleum,

the dome and building covered,

as were many of the statues,

as we made our way along the embankment,

and bridges,

then it was time to bid Paris a fond farewell,

and hello duty free in England!

 I rushed into town,

where the flower shops were selling spring bulbs,

and this is where I was going, the Carphone Warehouse, to top up my telephone,

the new road hardly any nearer to completion than when we left,

it beggars belief that the road has been under construction for a year, and is not scheduled to be finished for another year, good job the council is not making a big project, like a motorway, imagine how long that would take!

I made my way back past the church,

 in the cemetery,

the snowdrops putting on a good show,

in the evening a pizza for Diana,

scampi and chips for myself then back to Steve and Kai's for a good nights rest, we have a big day tomorrow, and with that we were of to bed.
