Day 7,

our first adventure begins,

 with us at Gatwick airport,

 it was early morning,

the seafood restaurant had not opened yet,

 the flight was on time,

and we were soon heading for Finland,

Diana already wrapped up for the cold,

we were met by the team from the hotel,

and were soon on our way,

 Diana was so excited,

to see all of this snow,

every so often a new flurry would be blown across the road,

it all look picture postcard perfect,

even more so when we passed this bridge where the water had not frozen and there were swans swimming,

 we continued on,

and this is where we are going, Torassieppi, Finland,

the road soon became difficult to see,

but strategically placed red poles marked where the road was,

 and here we are,

before unpacking we all tucked into a nice meal,

and there was plenty of it,

 then through the snow,

 towards our little cabin,

 and here we are,

our home for the next several days,

our double bed, looking at the inside of the cabin, I started humming the song Norwegian Wood, wrong country I know but it seemed so appropriate,

 it looked so cold outside,

and it was! look how thick the snow is on the roof,

 the trees laden with snow,

we just had to go outside to look and walk around,

the wooden cabins were on the side of a lake,

which we were told was frozen to depth of over 2 feet thick,

 looking behind us,

 the frozen forest,

we went back to our cabin,

taking a last look along the shoreline,

I just had to take a panorama,

Diana loved shaking the snow off of the trees,

snow bikes, big fat tyres to make it easy to peddle along,

I think I prefer one of these,

 we passed the main building,

and had a closer look at ours, the kitchen,

and a log fire, although the room was heated, and as we later found out, our cabin had a heated floor in the bathroom, it was so nice putting our snow shoes on in the mornings when they had heated through whilst we slept,

 the view from our cabin,

and time to relax, a glass for myself,

and a hot chocolate for Diana,

in the evening off to the restaurant,

although it does not look it, the snow was falling steadily,

 time for our evening meal,

it could not have been better for me, one of my favorites, beetroot,

 and a salad,

plus a selection of cold meats,

so help yourself and tuck in,

 'Cheers!',

for our main course, boiled potatoes, carrots and baked salmon,

to follow butter,

and a selection of breads, biscuits and cheeses, with fresh fruit,

during the day although we had brought warm clothes with us we were each given an outer thermal suit with gloves and mittens, it felt strange at first, but in no time at all we got used to suiting up, when outside we were both thankful for the extra layer,

 so out we went,

 Diana just loved it outside,

 playing with,

and throwing snow in the air,

and then trying to catch the snow,

 this is Santa's little hut,

we walked back to the roadwayTorassieppijärvi is next to the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, the resort consists of a cabin village, reindeer farm, museum and a husky farm, the original reindeer farm dates back to 1847,

we continued our walk across the road,

 crossing the road again,

and back into the resort, the snow steadily falling,

 we called into the restaurant,

for a nightcap, then we were off to bed.
